fair experience but could improve comfort
The location made getting to the football match easy, with excellent transport options to the city center. The bar offered good prices for drinks, making it a pleasant place to relax after a busy day.
The shared bathroom situation caused some inconvenience during my stay.

The location was perfect for visiting the MetroCentre! 🚶♂️ the noise from the pub below was quite disturbing at night. Room was okay, but a good clean would help a lot.

great proximity to parks and key landmarks for city strolls
I stayed one night and was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's excellent cleanliness and comfortable bed, which allowed me to rest well before exploring the nearby Great North Museum, just over 3 km away, perfect for a weekend wander, and the charming Dunston Staiths, a lovely 900 meters stroll along the riverside for a picturesque view of the Tyne.

Great location near football, but loud noise ruined my sleep. Not ideal for quiet stays.

missingWrote a review on Apr 11unpleasant noise
The hotel sits adjacent to empty industrial units and a busy bus route, which can rattle your windows and disrupt sleep. The decor feels outdated, characterized by a mish-mash of tongue and groove paneling and visibly unkempt maintenance. Showers in the rooms struggle with temperature control. expect either scalding hot or freezing cold—very little in between. the kitchen seems to cut corners, with a breakfast that tastes like it's just been reheated. There are also noise issues. conversations from nearby rooms and the pounding of bass from the bar can easily filter in. the experience doesn’t quite match the price point.

The Royal offers a no-frills accommodation suitable for business travelers, with clean room facilities including a kettle for coffee and tea. The staff were efficient and always ready to assist with any requests. The complimentary breakfast included a full English option, providing a good start to the day.
The accommodations are slightly dated, and noise from outside can be disruptive.

Loving the vibrant bar scene downstairs, with cheap drinks and a jukebox to keep the night rolling! Plus, that Riverside Delight just a stroll away had chippy heaven wrapped up in fresh batter. Quite the culinary find, if you ask me!
I mean, where do I start? Bit of a dodgy experience with breakfasts that didn't exist, and had my room ‘Gemma’ screaming for repairs. Two bulbs out, a dirty shower, and don’t even get me started on that mattress.
