The hotel had a friendly and the bar was very good
Some of the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. Extremely welcoming. Great for city weekend breaks in groups.
Helpful friendly staff, close to metro centre and Newcastle town centre. Breakfast ok
Hotel a bit shabby, shower curtain filthy. Advertised food but didnt do any.
i liked the look of the hotel rooms and room was a good size and the shower worked. The staff were friendly and helpful the breakfast was excellent would recommend.
We have stayed at the royal many times and have other dates booked for later this year. The staff go out of their way to help, they are very friendly and the rooms are great fro the price.
The only thing I have about our last two stays is that the room we stayed in is I think above the kitchen and there was some sort of machine that sounded like a dryer with a pair of trainers in (obv wasnt that but it sounded so) on during the evening below and continued at varying point. Although the staff were very apologetic and helpful when I asked if we oculd be put in another room on our next visit. This isnt something that would stop us from using this hotel .
The shower was pretty good. The bar staff were very helpful and were kind enough to allow afew friends of ours into the Hotel bar which made things alot easier for us. It was pretty close to the city centre.
The pillows were way too hard. A window was leaking which gave a damp smell. The deco was a tad old and needs upgrading.
The breakfast was good
In the rooms section of this pub/hotel, there's two doors and people are slaming them ... at every hour of the night. So good place but it depend if the others clients are civilised.
An easy to find hotel. A lovely welcome, comfortable room and most fantastic breakfast. For those on a budget - this is a fantastic hotel.
We found the cleanliness of the hotel excellent, given the basic and tired decor, but we were not expecting The Hilton! For value, you could not surpass it and a great welcome also, considering we booked in so late. The breakfast was served efficiently, hot, good and plenty of it and again so friendly! The bed was really comfortable. I had booked on behalf of my sister and brother, so felt a resposibility to them, they were as impressed as I was, so I hope you will pass this review on to the Hotel staff whom, we feel, are doing a really good job. I would book on this web site again as the description was fair and accurate. Thank You
A very basic hotel. Our toilet didn't work well. There wasn't any hot water in the morning for a shower. Our friends room didn't even have a heater in their room. Even a budget hotel should provide these basic facilities.
friendly staff good breakfast
in badliy need of lik of paint & general clean up
the breakfast was good and the breakfast team were friendly
the actual room was nothing like the pictures advertising, the on suite bathroom was in a poor state of repair. and the bedroom , the beds were lumpy and very uncomfortable. the floor boads needed a lot of repair. there were signs advertising food served alday but the first knight we stayed there were no staff to provide this service. the television reception left a lot to be desired and there was no remote.all in all this was the worst experience my wife and I have had.
It was 20 minutes walk from the MetroCentre and has a bus stop right outside, on the main route from Newcastle. Breakfast was good too.
No meals available despite multiple signs to the contrary. Staff and customers in the bar found this quite amusing, but after a long hot day I certainly didn't.I also didn't like getting locked in the accomodation "wing" on Monday morning because they forgot I was the only one staying there. TV aerial was broken so reception was really poor.
The staff at the royal is very relaxed, friendly and helpful. The location is good and just a short taxi journey from the heart off Newcastle it's self. When in Newcastle there is just so much do it's hard to say where to start!
The staff were very nice and helpful
The staff were lovely, there is no lift in this hotel, when showed to out first room it was dirty and smelt, furniture was in a state of disrepair, when moved room was slightly better, bathroom suite was dirty and looked like it had been fitted by a child. Only 2 of the TV channels worked. The hotel was very noisey and lots of men shouting very late hours, locks on the doors not very safe. The full English breakfast was very basic, and only couple of cereals on offer. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, but on paying £60 for a twin room I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel.
